PLEASE READ THIS REMINDER PRIOR TO USING INDEX
Keep in mind the hand writing in the actual census records were difficult to read
in some instances and the various census takers also spelled named differently, both
first and surnames. It would be prudent to check the each possible spelling of any
particular name. As far as can be told by the handwriting, at least two individuals
were responsible for taking the Polk County 1850 Census and with both hands it was
very difficult to distinguish the difference between the "J" and "I" in most cases.
There is a total of 4,536 individuals contained in this County Census which
covered 54 double pages from 9a to 62b. Please report any non-working links and/or
errors to the email address below. Thank you and good luck!
